Brockway Man Accused of Punching, Slamming Woman to Floor Due in Court Tuesday

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Brockway man is facing a hearing on Tuesday for reportedly punching and slamming a woman to the floor during an altercation.

Court documents indicate 37-year-old Daniel Ray Holt, of Brockway, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

He remains lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on $10,000.00 monetary bail.

The charges stem from an incident in Snyder Township earlier this month.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 5:18 p.m. on June 12, DuBois-based State Police were dispatched to a residence in Snyder Township to assist Jefferson County Children and Youth Services (CYS) with a welfare check.

At the residence, police spoke with a known female victim and discovered she was involved in a physical altercation with Daniel Ray Holt on June 11.

According to the complaint, the victim told police she did not report the incident when it occurred because she was scared. When questioned about the incident, she reported Holt was angry with her, and he had dropped his glasses, so she bent over to pick them up, at which time Holt allegedly punched her in the back, causing her to fall to the floor. She told police Holt then punched her in the face, picked her up, and slammed her to the floor. She also stated that she landed on her back, but her right shoulder struck the floor first, which caused an injury.

The complaint notes police observed the victim’s shoulder was noticeably swollen, and it was apparent that she was in pain and having a difficult time moving the shoulder. However, she refused medical treatment.

At the scene, police also spoke with a known male who witnessed the incident and confirmed the victim’s statement.

Police then spoke to Holt, who admitted to being at her residence and arguing with her on June 11 but denied assaulting her.

Holt was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 1:45 p.m. on June 15.
