Brockway Man Allegedly on Crystal Meth Bites Victim on Nose, Neck; Threatens to Kill Her

handcuffsBROCKWAY, Pa. (EYT) – A Brockway man is facing felony charges after a violent outburst on Main Street in Brockway while he was allegedly on crystal methamphetamine .

According to online court documents, the Brockway Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 55-year-old Douglas Michael Hess, of Brockway.

According to a criminal complaint, Brockway Police Officer Tammy Murray was dispatched to 209 Main Street, Apartment A, in Brockway around 9:40 p.m., on Sunday, January 22, for a domestic dispute.

When Officer Murray arrived, she knocked on the door and could hear a female voice from inside the apartment screaming for help. She entered the apartment and found the known woman standing inside the door with multiple cuts on her arms and covered with blood. When asked what had happened, the victim told Officer Murray that Hess had beaten her up, the complaint states.

At that time, Hess allegedly came out of the bathroom and charged at Officer Murray. He threw a cigarette at her, hitting her in the face. Hess then took a swing at her, and she grabbed his arm and shirt and placed him against a wall. He then spit in her face and said “he was going to get a knife out of his pocket and stab her with it,” according to the complaint.

The complaint states that Officer Murray then told Hess to turn around and face the wall. Hess responded by saying “(Expletive) you pig. No wonder people are killing you. You deserve to die you stupid (expletive) pig.”

Officer Murray then grabbed his wrist and turned him around as he continued to fight her and resist arrest. She continued to tell him to stop resisting as she placed him in handcuffs, the complaint continues.

When she told Hess he was under arrest, he turned and spit on her a second time, the complaint states.

At that time, EMS arrived on the scene to assist, followed shortly by Constable Serafini.

On the way out the door, Hess allegedly said that he was going to get his “30-30 and blow Officer Murray’s (expletive) head off,” according to the complaint.

Hess was searched for weapons and “a knife was found in his front right pocket along with three round white pills imprinted PLIVA 434, a small metal avon container with nine oval yellow pills imprinted 106 S, and some change,” the complaint states.

Hess was placed in the back of the patrol car, and Constable Serafini stayed with him while Officer Murray went back inside the apartment to speak to the victim. The victim told Officer Murray that Hess was scraping his face with a knife because he thought he had bugs crawling out of his skin, and he was trying to get them off of him, the complaint indicates.

The victim also told Officer Murray that Hess was in the bathroom doing crystal meth before that. He then became upset with the victim after she told him that there weren’t any bugs on him. He grabbed her by the wrists and held her on the bed telling her he was going to kill her if she called the police. He then bit her neck and nose. She then broke free and called police, according to the complaint.

Hess was arraigned on the following charges:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1 (two counts)
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement
– Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1

Unable to post $100,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. on February 28 in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana.
