Brookville Borough Police Foil Attempted Theft of Camper, Discover Drug Paraphernalia

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Brookville Borough Police recently foiled a man’s apparent plan to steal a camper and also discovered drug paraphernalia.

Around 10:16 p.m. on Friday, October 25, Officers Miller and Gallagher of the Brookville Borough Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Allegheny Boulevard on a 1999 Dodge pickup truck that was hauling a 2007 Jayco camping trailer.

Police say as the truck was traveling south on Allegheny Boulevard, Officer Miller observed that the trailer did not have lights on it as required by law. A traffic stop was then conducted on the vehicle and it was discovered the the driver, identified as 26-year-old Matthew Alan Wisor, of Hawk Run, Pa., had a license that was suspended for a previous DUI conviction.

According to police, the officers also discovered numerous safety and equipment violations with the truck and the camping trailer. They were then granted permission by Wisor to search the vehicle and discovered numerous items used to store, inhale, or otherwise introduce drugs into the body.

Police say during the investigation, it was determined the trailer was previously owned by an individual from Brookville, but had been sold to Dale Smith’s Camper Sales in Brookville in July 2019. Police then contacted the owner of the business and determined that the vehicle had not been sold or purchased by anyone, and was still to be on the property.

The truck, the camper, Wisor, and a second suspect were then all turned over to the Marienville-based State Police.

Court documents indicate the following charges were filed against Wisor through Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak’s office on Monday, October 28:

– Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Property, Felony 3
– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 3

A preliminary hearing for the case has not yet been scheduled.
