The chapter received $2,000.00 and John Delaney, of Brookville, accepted the donation on behalf of his group. Delaney is the Chapter Commander and Service Officer. He can be reached at jadelaney1@comcast.net.

The Alle-Kiski chapter meets at 1:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the DuBois Veterans of Foreign Wars on Fuller Avenue.

According to its website at http://www.purpleheart.org, it was chartered by Congress in 1958. The Military Order of the Purple Heart is composed of military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat.

Although the membership is restricted to the combat wounded, it supports all veterans and their families with a myriad of nationwide programs by Chapters and National Service Officers.

It exists to assist all veterans in working with the VA and filing claims for the many benefits that are available. Individuals do not need to be a Member of the Purple Heart Organization to seek assistance.

The program provides veterans’ benefits experts at various veterans administration regional offices, hospitals, vet centers, and state and county veterans facilities.

The Brookville Firemans Club raises money through small games of chance. In total, they gave $117,935.00.
