Park extended his streak of wins by fall to five straight on Saturday, pinning opponents from both VMI and Davidson as Clarion improved to 5-3 on the season. He started by flattening the Keydets’ Clifton Conway just 39 seconds into their bout as the Golden Eagles claimed a 30-12 team victory.

More impressively, Park opened Clarion’s 36-3 decision over Davidson with a record-breaking pin of Michael McLellan. He defeated McLellan in just 12 seconds, setting a new program record for fastest win by fall. The previous record was 13 seconds, set by Jack Campbell during the 1976-77 season.

Park has won six straight bouts with the last five all coming by fall. He owns a 14-7 overall record as Clarion goes into EWL competition this weekend against George Mason.

MRAZ NAMED FR. OF THE WEEK FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT TIME

For the sixth consecutive week, Clarion freshman Mason Mraz has been named PSAC West Freshman of the week for men’s basketball.

Mraz has cemented himself in the Golden Eagles starting lineup as well as one of the top freshman in the league. Among all PSAC players, Mraz ranks 15th in three-point field goals per game and 35th overall in points per game.

Over the past week, Mraz averaged 10 points per game in three conference contests. Mraz netted 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting against Mercyhurst then followed that up with a 12 point output against Gannon.

Mraz leads Clarion with 95 three-point baskets and is second on the team with 12.8 points per game.

Clarion is back in action Wednesday, Jan. 17 when the Golden Eagles travel to Edinboro for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
