BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – An 18-year-old Brookville man is facing charges after he allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl.

According to a criminal complaint, on September 29, Officer Markle, of Brookville Police Department, was dispatched to Brookville High School for a missing 14-year-old girl. The school counselor told him the girl hadn’t been seen in several days.

Officer Markle received information the girl had allegedly been spending time with Tyler Lee Courson, 18, of Brookville. He spoke with Courson’s parents who advised that he hadn’t been home in days, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Officer Markle went to a residence where Courson and the girl had reportedly been staying and was advised they had been there “a couple days ago” but were not staying there. He then went to another residence where Courson and the girl had reportedly stayed and met with a woman who said the girl was there. He advised her to come outside, so she could be taken to Children and Youth Services, and she said she had already called them, the complaint continues.

The girl allegedly said she was with Courson over the weekend of September 26 and together they had “went down the tracks in Brookville to make shift camp,” and that she and Courson had engaged in sexual intercourse at around 10:00 p.m. that evening. The girl allegedly said they’d had sex one time, the complaint indicates.

Officer Markle spoke with Courson, who allegedly said he and the girl had been camping along the Redbank Creek and “one thing lead to another, and eventually they had sexual intercourse.” Courson allegedly said he “did not think about it at the time but later knew what he did was wrong,” according to the complaint.

Based on the information received during the investigation, Officer Markle requested a warrant of arrest be issued.

According to online court documents, Courson was arraigned at 3:45 p.m. on September 29 before District Judge Gregory Bazylak.

He faces the following charges:

  • Statutory sexual assault, 4-8 years older, Felony 2
  • Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a person less than 16 years of age, Felony 1
  • Aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age, Felony 2
  • Indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age, Misdemeanor 2

Bail was set at $50,000.00 unsecured.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. on October 8 with Judge Bazylak presiding.
