Brookville Man Falls Asleep at Wheel Crashes Vehicle into Tree

PINE CREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his vehicle into a tree in Pine Creek Township on Friday.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, 22-year-old Ryan J. Lucas, of Brookville, was traveling on State Route 1830, south of Diamond J’s Lane, in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County, around 12:32 p.m. on Friday, July 19, fell asleep, and drove off the roadway.

His 2007 Jeep traveled approximately 74 yards in the grass before striking a tree. The vehicle then traveled approximately 25 yards into a utility pole, breaking it, and then approximately 10 more yards before coming to a final rest lying on its passenger side.

He suffered suspected minor injuries, but he was not transported to a hospital from the scene.

He was using a seat belt.
