Brookville Man Jailed on Aggravated Assault After Allegedly Attacking Woman with Baseball Bat

crime-newsPINE CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 11:34 p.m. on August 7, an incident of Aggravated Assault occurred at a residence along State Route 28, in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County.

PSP Troop C Punxsutawney were summoned to a residence along SR 28 for a report that 64-year-old Donald Guy Shaffer, of Brookville, allegedly assaulted a female victim with a baseball bat.

Upon arrival, the victim was being treated by Jefferson County EMS. She was then flown to UPMC Altoona for treatment of a skull injury.

Shaffer was arrested without incident at the scene.

He was charged with the following offenses:

– two counts of Aggravated Assault
– two counts of Simple Assault
– one count of Recklessly Endangering Another Person
– one count of Harassment

He was arraigned on August 8 before Judge Gregory Bazylak in District Court 54-3-03.

Unable to post $50,000.00 cash bail, Shaffer was placed in the Jefferson County Jail.

According to police, the victim is currently recovering at the Altoona Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

PSP Punxsutawney were assisted at the scene by Brookville Borough Police Deparment and Jefferson County EMS.

PSP Huntingdon assisted at the Altoona Hospital.
