Brookville Man Jailed on Probation Detainer After Assaulting Woman

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Brookville Borough Police say assault and harassment charges have been filed against a 63-year-old Brookville man following an incident that occurred in Brookville, Jefferson County.

On April 3, police were dispatched to an apartment on White Street in Brookville for an incident of two people arguing.

According to police, 63-year-old Joseph A. McElhinny, of Brookville, allegedly punched a female victim in the face and left a bruise under her left eye during the altercation.

McElhinny was on probation at the time of the incident and was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on a probation detainer, police say.

Charges for Simple Assault and Harassment have been filed at District Judge Bazylak’s office.

McElhinny is awaiting a preliminary arraignment.
