Brookville Police Respond to Attempted Suicide; Woman Allegedly Approaches Officers with Rifle

police_line_11BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Around 1:10 a.m. on Thursday, Brookville Police were dispatched to a Madison Avenue residence for a report of a female who had allegedly cut her wrists in an attempt to commit suicide.

Officers arrived and surveyed the scene. When the officers knocked on the door, the female allegedly picked up a .22 caliber rifle and started towards the door, at which point the officers took cover.

After negotiations, the female exited the residence and surrendered.

She was taken via Jefferson County EMS to the Brookville Hospital ER for treatment of a cut wrist.

Mental health crisis personnel were summoned, and she was subsequently committed to a mental health facility in DuBois.

Brookville Police were assisted by Punxsutawney-based State Police and Punxsutawney Borough Police.
