BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Brookville Borough resident Joe Lehr loves where he lives, but he’s concerned about the speeders on his neighborhood.
Lehr said he’s lived on Rose Street in the borough for seven years and has little to be concerned about, but he would like to see if a stop sign could be placed on Pine Street to slow the fast drivers.
Chief of Police Jason Brown said he would take a look at the area Wednesday and see what the best course of action would be.
Also, council members learned the next comprehensive planning meeting for Jefferson County will be at 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 27. It will be held at Jefferson Place in the second-floor conference room.
The meeting is open to the public.
In other business:
- Code Enforcement Officer Donald Jonischek said he was still working with resident Mr. (Larry) Pearsall on grass cutting issues on his property.
“It’s gonna be a little while with him, but in the long run, it will be worth it,” Jonischek said.
- Borough manager Dana Shick said the borough missed the income limits and wouldn’t be getting any CDBG money.
- Dates were corrected for the Brookville Chamber of Commerce’s Haunted Halloween weekend festivities. The first day will be Friday, October 27 with evening activities. There will be events all day Saturday, October 28.
- Junior council member Dalynn Park reported a new student advisory council had been formed with the idea of improving communication between students, teachers and administrators.
- Council member Karen Allgeier said a house bill had been introduced regarding placing cell towers in right of ways.
“We need to write letters to our legislators Dush and Scarnati to try and keep that out,” Allgeier said.
Council will meet again at 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 19.
