Brookville to Host Light Up Night on Friday

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Friday is Light Up Night in Brookville.

The 11th Annual Festival and Parade signals the beginning of the holiday season and begins at 5:00 p.m.

Family friendly, fun activities are featured along with vendors serving hot, delicious food, and holiday crafts and games.

Pre-parade activities include automated train rides around downtown, a caricature artist, a face painter, Jefferson County History Center train display, children’s crafts under the big tents sponsored by community organizations, the Brookville Community Band playing holiday tunes and group caroling via the Special K Quartet.

A returning favorite event features a huge ice sculpture carved by DiMartino Ice Company of Jeannette on Main Street that evening which becomes a life-sized, interactive sculpture. Most events are free to the public, so bring your cameras along with the family and enjoy the evening!

Holiday street decorations and the Community Christmas tree in the Courthouse yard are officially lighted during this event.

The culminating activity is the parade filled with live music, floats, marching units, fire trucks, and the arrival of Santa atop a Brookville Volunteer Fire Company truck.

Line up starts at the Presbyterian Church at 6:30 p.m.

Cash prizes of $250.00 will be awarded for best float, best fire truck and judge’s choice award.

Santa meets and listens to each child as they share their gift list, and then each child receives a box of sweets from Mrs. Claus. Santa continues to have hours in his cottage in front of the Courthouse until Christmas weekend. Please check times posted on the cottage.
