Brookville Woman Behind Bars for Theft of Camaro

POLK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville woman is currently behind bars on charges for the theft of a man’s Camaro in Polk Township.

Court documents indicate the DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 31-year-old Amanda Dawn Stollenwerk.

According to a criminal complaint, around 7:26 p.m. on June 26, a known victim contacted Punxsutawney-based State Police to report that his black 2019 Chevrolet Camaro was stolen from his residence on State Route 949 in Polk Township, Jefferson County.

According to the complaint, the victim told police that Amanda Dawn Stollenwerk had been staying at his residence for approximately one week when he returned from work and discovered that Stollenwerk had left.

The complaint notes the victim indicated Stollenwerk had permission to stay at his residence but was not given permission to operate his Camaro.

Police were then able to locate Stollenwerk around 9:05 p.m. in a parking lot off of West Long Avenue in DuBois. However, Stollenwerk was not in the missing vehicle.

Stollenwerk was then taken into custody and interviewed. She reportedly admitted to police that she took the Camaro from the victim’s residence, according to the complaint.

The complaint states Stollenwerk was under the influence of an unknown substance and was unable to provide the details of the vehicle’s location. A canvas of the area was also performed but yielded no results.

Stollenwerk was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 9:10 a.m. on June 27, on the following charges:

– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 3
– Unauthorized Use Motor/Other Vehicles, Misdemeanor 2
– Driving Without A License, Summary

Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, she was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. on July 13, with Judge Inzana presiding.
