JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say a Brookville woman was injured in a one-car accident occurred on State Route 36, North of Ishman Lane, in Oliver Township, Jefferson County.
According to police, the accident happened around 6:15 a.m. on January 29 when 78-year-old Marie Smith of Brookville was traveling south on SR 36, and while attempting to negotiate a right curve in the roadway, drove off the east side of the road.
She traveled approximately 100 feet before striking a metal stake located along the east side of the roadway, police say.
Her vehicle continued approximately another 245 feet before impacting the back of the Backwoods Trading Company building.
She was using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.
Jefferson County EMS transported her to Punxsutawney Hospital.
An investigation continues.
