ROSE TOWNSHIP Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say two Brookville women were flown from Brookville Hospital for treatment of injuries suffered from an accident that occurred today on Snyder Road, 607 feet south of State Route 322, in Rose Township, Jefferson County.
According to police, the collision involved Mary E. Park, 77, and Melissa J. Bowser, 31, both of Brookville, on July 14.
Police say the crash occurred as Park was traveling north along Snyder Road in a 2012 Cadillac as Bowser was standing outside of a 2002 Ford, which was pulled off the west side of the road.
According to police, Park failed to see the vehicle, and for unknown reasons, veered into the oncoming lane and struck the parked vehicle and Bowser who was standing at the driver’s side door.
Bowser was thrown into the air and her vehicle ran over her, pinning her underneath, police say.
Park’s Cadillac rolled over onto its right side, then onto the roof and finally onto its wheels, coming to a rest in the middle of Snyder Road facing west, according to police.
Bowser was able to crawl out from under her vehicle and call for help, police say.
She suffered moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital by EMS.
Police say there were two passengers in Bowser’s vehicle – a one-year-old female and a five-year-old female – who were secured in car seats.
The one-year-old female was transported to the hospital by EMS.
The five-year-old female was not transported to the hospital from the scene.
Police say Park was using a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries.
A 14-year-old passenger in Park’s vehicle was using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. The teen was transported to the hospital by EMS.
According to police, Bowser and Park were flown from Brookville Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Punxsutawney-based State Police were assisted at the scene by Pinecreek Fire Department, Jefferson County EMS, and McPherson Towing.
No additional information was provided.
