UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 10:03 p.m. on July 12, a one-car accident occurred on State Route 322, east of McGill Road, in Union Township, Jefferson County.
According to police, 56-year-old Katherine M. McConville, of Corsica, was traveling west on SR 322 in a 1997 Toyota Corolla when a deer ran out onto the roadway.
McConville swerved to miss the deer and lost control of the car. The car subsequently traveled off the roadway and struck a telephone pole with the driver’s side front quarter panel sending it into a 360 clockwise spin, police say.
The car then struck a mailbox and came to a final rest off the roadway in a yard.
McConville was using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. She was not taken to the hospital.
Jefferson County EMS; Corsica Volunteer Fire Department; and McPherson’s Towing assisted at the scene.
