Car Slams into Church in Jefferson County

state_policeJEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police are seeking information concerning a hit-and-run crash that caused extensive damage to a local church on September 27.

According to police, the crash occurred as an unknown actor was traveling north in a private asphalt parking lot at approximately 2 p.m.

For unknown reasons, the actor allegedly traveled across a sidewalk and gravel landscaping, before striking a church.

Police say the actor fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Damage to the exterior of the church consisted of minor damage to the vinyl siding, however, damage to the interior of the church was extensive, according to police.

Anyone with information concerning the hit-and-run is asked to contact Punxsutawney PSP at 814-938-0510.

Details about the location and vehicle involved in the crash were not released.
