Car Crashes into Telephone Pole Along Route 322

CORSICA, Pa. (EYT) – State Police responded to a one-vehicle crash along Route 322 in Corsica this afternoon.

Punxsutawney-based State Police say the accident took place around 12:15 p.m. Monday when  24-year-old Christopher L. Crawford, of New Bethlehem, was operating a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am in excess of the speed limit and failed to negotiate a left turn on Route 322.

Crawford’s vehicle traveled off the north berm and struck a drain culvert before crossing over a driveway and impacting a telephone pole.

The vehicle then began to spin in a counter-clockwise direction and traveled an additional 300 feet before coming to a rest.

Police say the vehicle sustained severe damage and had to be towed from the scene.

Crawford and two passengers escaped injury in the crash.

Charges are pending the completion of the crash investigation.

Corsica Volunteer Fire Company, Jefferson County EMS, and Leadbetter’s Towing assisted at the scene.
