Car Crashes into Tree on Cloe Rossiter Road; Punxsy Teen Injured

BELL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A local teen was injured after she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a tree in Bell Township on Monday morning.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, this crash happened around 10:24 a.m. on Monday, December 5, on Cloe Rossiter Road, in Bell Township, Jefferson County.

Police say a 2013 Honda Civic Del Sol driven by 19-year-old Hanna M. McSurdy, of Punxsutawney, was traveling south when McSurdy lost control of the vehicle, traveling into the southbound shoulder and made contact with a guide rail.

McSurdy attempted to regain control of the vehicle, which caused it to swerve across both lanes of travel, across the northbound lane, and head-on into a tree that was approximately 15 feet off the roadway.

According to police, McSurdy suffered possible injuries and was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS.

She was not using a seat belt.

According to police, McSurdy was charged with a traffic violation.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Brosius Towing Services.

Rossiter Volunteer Fire Company also assisted on the scene.
