Carl E. Dempsey

1800304_profile_picCarl E. Dempsey, 65, Porter Township, died Thursday, May 19, 2016, at home.

He was born June 28, 1950, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Lettie Jean (Neal) Dempsey.

On August 6, 2001, he married Kathleen “Kathy” A. (Kirsch) Dempsey, who survives.

Carl was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War.

Carl worked as a machinist for Star Iron Works and enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, and fishing.

He was a member of the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include four children, Angie Hulse and Robert “Adam” of Brookville, Megan Dempsey and boyfriend Jim Snow of Erie, Becky Larson and husband Dave II of Mahaffey, and Daniel Wright of Erie; ten grandchildren, Vicky Wright, Desiree Burns, Kenny Burns, Katie Dempsey, Zack Wright, Cheyanne Hulse, Kayla Larson, Angel Larson, David Larson III, and Tammy Larson; and two great-grandchildren, Weston Schmidt and Miya Penman.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son Michael Dempsey and a brother Allie Dempsey.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. A military funeral honors service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
