Bernice L. Kresinski

Bernice L. Kresinski 95, formerly of 319 Jefferson St. Oil City, PA. passed away at 11:40 P.M. Monday January 28, 2013 after a period of declining health. Born in Oil City, PA. on April 10, 1917 daughter of the late John and Eleanor Timler Warcholic. She attended Assumption BVM Grade School and Oil City High School. Working for a few years as a waitress at Chacon’s Restaurant in Oil City, she was mainly a homemaker, and life-long member of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Oil City. She enjoyed being a member of the Golden Agers of the Assumption and the Rosary Society. She was also a life member of both the Pulaski and the PNA. Mrs. Kresinski volunteered in the kitchen at Venango Catholic ( Christian ) High School for 12 years. Her hobbies were bingo and travel. She visited five continents. Bernice was married on April 25, 1943 in the Assumption BVM Church to Aloysius J. ( Luke ) Kresinski and he preceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by 3 children; Fr. Daniel J. Kresinski , Pastor of St. Anthonys of Padua Church in  Sharon, Pa.  and St. Adalberts of Farrell,PA.  Theodore J. and Toni Kresinski of Oil City and Theresa Ann and Steve Pallardy of Lexington,KY,  3 grandsons Kristofer and Jodiann Kresinski, Kevin and Lauren Kresinski and Benjamin Pallardy . Three great grandchildren Ethan Kresinski, Jorja Kresinski and Jenna Dobiak. Other survivors include One sister Helen Peterson of Meadville , and two sisters in-law Winifred Kresinski of Oil City and Susan Warcholic of Bridgeville  and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by a son Timothy Kresinski in 1952 and by sisters Ada Ford , Mary Wiltanger and Jane Warcholic, and by three brothers Stanley, Joseph and Frank Warcholic and six infant siblings. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 P.M.  Thursday at the Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 : 00 A.M. Friday in the Assumption BVM Church. Fr. Daniel J. Kresinski as the main Celebrant and Fr. Justin P. Pino will be the Con-Celebrant. . Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Assumption BVM Church. Charles A. Douglass Jr.

Charles A. Douglass Jr., 98, formerly of West Mifflin, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, in Sligo, Pa. He and his wife, Florence, moved to Knox, Pa., in 2000, and lived with their daughter. He was born April 12, 1914, in Sutersville, to Charles A. Sr. and Ethel Pearl Douglass. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Florence M. Douglass. Also preceding him were sisters, Ruth Mohney (Burt) and Mary Wells (Bill); and brothers, Harry Douglass (Doris), Russell Douglass (Mimi) and Ronald Douglass (Betty); and brother-in-law, Harry Sudul. He is survived by his sons, Charles A. Douglass III (Phyllis), of Niceville, Fla., and Robert H. Douglass, of Spokane, Wash.; daughter, Joan Lee Weible (David), of Knox; and sister-in-law, Louise Sudul, of Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. Douglass was blessed with six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He had been an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Duquesne where he was an ordained elder, and later attended Kossuth Faith Church of the Nazarene in Knox. He was a member of Chapter 1456 of the AARP, Duquesne Annex Senior Citizens, VFW Post 188 and had been an active leader in Boy Scouting for many years in the Duquesne/West Mifflin area. Mr. Douglass proudly served in the Marine Corps, 4th Marine Division, during World War II and earned the Combat Action Ribbon for his participation in the battle for Iwo Jima. He was employed by US Steel Corp., Duquesne Works, and retired after 40 years of faithful service. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at TEICHART-GRACAN FUNERAL HOME INC., Duquesne. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Judy Slater. Interment following in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Evelyn Marie Johnson

Evelyn Marie Johnson, 204 Pine Street, Corsica, went into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was reunited with her beloved husband Robert (Pastor Bob) Johnson on January 6, 2013 at the Brookville, Hospital. Evelyn was born in Corsica, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania on May, 16, 1921, daughter of Floyd and Decima Simpson. Evelyn and her husband, Robert, were married for 66 years. They served as Missionaries for 20 years in the Island of Haiti where they conducted hundreds of medical, dental, and evangelistic clinics throughout the tiny Island. Evelyn served as the Chaplain of the Roseville Grange for many years. She was also a Hairstylist and was the owner/operator of Evelyn Marie’s Beauty Shop. In her spare time, she loved baking with her grandchildren, making crafts, singing, and bringing joy to those at the nursing homes. The family wishes to give special thanks to Evelyn’s caregivers, Cathy, Diane, Paula, Melissa, Robin, and Brenda. In addition to the excellent home care, the family wishes to thank the Jefferson County Visiting Nurse’s and the outstanding nursing staff on the 4th floor of the Brookville Hospital. Donations can be given to the Brookville Hospital Foundation. Evelyn leaves behind her beloved daughters: Sue Ann Phelps of Blasdell, New York, Robyn Johnson Barhorst, Cincinnati, OH, and beloved son John (JJ) David Johnson of Clarion, PA. She has two surviving sisters, Amy Mauthe of Corsica, and Lois Wiles from Roseville. She has seven Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren. Arrangements are at the McKinney Funeral Home with visitation: 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 followed by a funeral service, Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at McKinney Funeral Home. Rev. James Fillhart will be officiating. Interment will be at the Pisgah Cemetery in Corsica, PA.

Albert Lon Sebring (Lon)

Albert Lon Sebring (Lon), 73, of Brookville died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA. Born January 8, 1939, in Grove City, PA he was the son of the late Albert (Andy) and Mabel Miller Sebring. He was married to Janice Heaton Sebring for 53 years. She survives. Lon was a coach, teacher, guidance counselor, and administrator in both the Brookville and DuBois Area School Districts. He operated a Sears catalogue store in Brookville for a number of years and until his recent retirement owned Howard Hanna Forest Realty in Tionesta. Lon enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, travel, working with youth. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. He is also survived by daughter, Robin Johnson, Son-in-Law, Jack Johnson of Brockport, PA; Son, Mark Sebring, Daughter-in-law, Kim Sebring, Grandchildren Megan, Thomas and Megan all of Zelineople, PA. He also is survived Sally Lou Rohrer of Towanda, PA. He was preceded in death by sister, Virginia; son, Timothy; and grandson, Tyler. Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville, PA. A private service will follow.
