Cathryn “Cathy” Suzanne Bevak

Cathryn “Cathy” Suzanne Bevak, 51, of Delancey died Friday, January 8, 2016 at West Penn Hospital.

She was born on September 23, 1964 in Punxsutawney, a daughter to the late John Andrew “Simon” Meterko and Adda Louise (Biggie) Meterko. Her mother survives and resides in Delancey.

Cathy was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church. She had an amazing, strong faith in God, and believed in turning all her cares over to him.

On October 12, 2002 she married Samuel M. Bevak, Jr. He survives and resides in Delancey.

Cathy worked as a LPN at Mulberry Square Eldercare for twenty three years, she not only worked there, but had a love and genuine concern for the residents in her care. She was a devoted and selfless nurse.

Her daughter Shea was the highlight of her life, she loved her dearly. She also had a tremendous love for her immediate family, they enjoyed spending time with one another.

She loved Christmas, the snow, sled riding, cooking, watching QVC and the Steeler games, and she enjoyed going to watch the Pirates games with Sam and Shea. Although she didn’t like to admit it, she loved the family dog “Little Buddy” also known as “Max Joseph.”

She is survived by her husband Sam, daughter Shea Louise Bevak, both of Delancey; three sisters, Adda Louise Fegley and husband William of Spring Mills, PA, Teresa Marie Meterko of Delancey, and Mary Christine Meterko of Indiana; three brothers, Leo Curtis Meterko, Peter Michael Meterko and Damian Paul Meterko, all of Delancey; nephews, William, Bryton, and Brent Fegley, Drew Bevak, Malik Meterko, and Ethan Bish; nieces, Adda and Adrianna Fegley, Leah Means and Lacey Walker; sister inlaw, Shawn Lauer and husband Nathan.

Preceded in death by her father, brother, John Andrew Meterko III, niece, Sahara Schleef, and sister in law, Karen Neese.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. A Parastas service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at S.S. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, celebrated by Rev. Fr. James A. Ragan.

Interment will follow at S.S. Peter and Paul Byzantine Cemetery.
