Cecil Millard Mahlon

Cecil Millard Mahlon, 76, Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Friday, April 28, 2017, at the DuBois Nursing Home, after a short illness.

He was born January 25, 1941, in McCalmont Twp., Jefferson County, son of the late Cecil Leroy and Dolly M. (Shaffer) Mahlon.

Cecil worked a variety of jobs, but most enjoyed working underground in various coal mines, doing mechanical and electrical maintenance. He later worked at Permagrain in Karthaus, until ill health forced him into early retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, and on active duty during the Berlin Wall Crisis.

Cecil previously enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. In recent years he was a fan of NASCAR, Penn State sports teams and rooted for the Cleveland Browns even when they were losing.

He was a member of F.O.E. Aerie # 965, Falls Creek and Sandy Hose Co. #1, DuBois.

In addition to his former wife Mary Josephine (Lanich) Mahlon, Clearfield, whom he married January 8, 1960, he is survived by three daughters: Linda Kruies and her companion, Donald Bennett, Luthersburg; Beverly Coder and husband James, Sr., Clearfield; Violet Mahlon, Grampian; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are four sisters: Sally McClure Ransel and Jennie Laird, Clearfield; Nancy Peoples, Norfolk, Va; Darlene crim, Greer, S.C. He is also survived by Carol G. Johnson, Treasure Lake, DuBois, with whom he made his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley Lope, and a brother, Harvey Mahlon.

At Cecil’s request, there will be no visitation or services. His cremains will be interred in Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
