Celia Mae (Brocious) Smith

Celia Mae (Brocious) Smith, age 77, of Summerville, Pa., passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Punxsutawney Hospital, in the presence and care of her family.

Celia was born on August 18, 1939, to the late John L. and Anna M. (Wolfgong) Brocious.

She was married to Arthur Lee Smith, who precedes her in passing.

Celia graduated from Summerville High School.

She was a unit secretary at the Brookville Hospital and she spent over 40 years working there.

She was a Christian woman with a strong faith in God. She found joy in attending various churches and being part of the congregations throughout the years.

She enjoyed watching the yearly cycles of her farm from planting to harvest. Living where she did gave her the opportunity to watch the wildlife that surrounded her. She loved seeing the animals and she was especially fond of taking care of the birds, or “her birds,” as she would say. Celia liked going for car rides to view the beautiful scenery of the countryside. Another favorite activity was singing with her sister at Laurel Brooke Landing, bringing joy and uplifting those who heard them perform.

Celia is survived by 5 sons; Gregory L. (Heidi) Smith of Brookville, Pa.; Ralph L. (Shelley) Smith of Brookville, Pa.; Martin L. (Kathy) Smith of Brookville, Pa.; Sheldon L. (Christine) Smith of Summerville, Pa.; Matthew L. (Neysa) Smith of Mayport, Pa.; three daughters, Bethany M. (Robert) Kuntz of Corsica, Pa.; Celeste M. (James) Reitz of Corsica, Pa.; Amy M. (Chad) Kurtz of Corsica, Pa.; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one sister; Esther R. (Brocious) McKinley, formerly of Brookville, Pa.

Celia requested that her funeral services remain private.

Her arrangements and care is entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, Pa., 15825.
