Charge Filed Against Man Accused of Sexually Harassing Woman at Local Business

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – An area man is facing criminal charges for allegedly sexually harassing a woman at a business in Brookville Borough.

Court documents indicate the Brookville Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 46-year-old Louis Andrew Amato, of Ridgway.

According to a criminal complaint, around 3:10 a.m. on December 20, 2021, a known female victim contacted police to report she had been harassed by a man she only knew as “Lue” at her place of employment in Brookville Borough, Jefferson County.

The complaint states that the dates of the incidents allegedly occurred sometime between Sunday, August 1, 2021, around 7:00 p.m., and Monday, December 20, 2021.

According to the complaint, the female victim reported the man had told her that she should allow him to watch her shower at a local truck stop and made several other lewd comments. She also indicates during her last shift, he began to yell obscenities at her, such as “If you catch an attitude with me, I’ll beat it out of you” and “If you were my old lady, I would make sure you always gave me what I want.”

The victim felt that she had no other choice than to quit her job, the complaint notes.

Police then made contact with Louis “Lue” Amato at the victim’s place of employment around 4:00 a.m. on December 20, 2021.

According to the complaint, Amato denied making any sexual or inappropriate comments to the victim, but he said the victim did “flip out” on him prior to walking out of her job. Police gathered his information and warned him not to speak to the victim anymore.

Police then interviewed a manager at the business where the incident reported by the victim allegedly took place.

The manager told police the victim had called a second manager saying that she was going to leave and needed to have someone come in to cover. The first manager told police both the victim and Amato gave him statements and police asked for copies of the statements, the complaint notes.

The following charge against Amato was filed through Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak’s office on January 18:

– Harassment – Comm. Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. on March 1 with Judge Bazylak presiding.
