Charges Filed Against Sykesville Woman Caught With Controlled Substances, Paraphernalia at Jefferson County Jail

PINE CREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Felony contraband charges have been filed against a Sykesville woman recently caught with suspected controlled substances and drug paraphernalia at the Jefferson County Jail.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 37-year-old Cassidy Lynn Kaizer.

According to a criminal complaint, around 4:48 p.m. on November 12, Punxsutawney-based State Police were dispatched to the Jefferson County Jail for a report of drug paraphernalia discovered in the possession of an inmate.

According to the complaint, it was reported that Cassidy Kaizer was transported to the jail by a Jefferson County Probation Officer and a plastic syringe and several plastic baggies containing suspected controlled substances were found in the front pocket of her shirt by corrections officers. The items were then seized and placed in an evidence bag while Kaizer was processed.

The complaint notes police later spoke to the probation officer who transported Kaizer. The officer reported he picked Kaizer up in DuBois and transported her to the Jefferson County Jail due to a warrant for unpaid fines. The officer told police that Kaizer was searched prior to being transported but as there were no female officers working at the time, the search was not thorough.

Police then spoke with Kaizer at the jail.

According to the complaint, Kaizer was read her Miranda warnings and agreed to answer questions but refused to sign a Rights Warning and Waiver Form. During the interview, she reportedly denied any knowledge of the contraband and told police she suffers from memory loss. She also stated that she had dependency issues with Suboxone in the past, but she was unsure of what substance was in the plastic baggies.

Kaizer was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak at 3:55 p.m. on November 15, on the following charges:

– Contraband/Controlled Substance, Felony 2
– Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

Bail was set at $70,000.00 (10%) monetary for this case.

She remains lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on December 1, with Judge Bazylak presiding.
