Charles A. “Chuck” Ellenberger

Ellenberger CharlesCharles A. “Chuck” Ellenberger, 90, of 303 Elk Run Avenue, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at home.

Charles was born May 23, 1925, in Punxsutawney, PA, a son of the late Fred S. and Aleta G. (Mottarn) Ellenberger.

He married the former Mary Catherine (Smith) Ellenberger on June 10, 1947, who preceded him in death in 1989. He then married the former M. Jean (Shiock) Ellenberger on September 19, 1994, who also preceded him in death in 2003, He is also survived by his wife Linda (Brownfield) Ellenberger.

Charles was an employee of the Kromer’s Dairy and Acme Machine Shop prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks #301.

He was also well known as an avid prominent drummer for numerous local dance bands where he played for many years.

Charles was a Presbyterian by faith.

He is survived by his wife Linda (Brownfield) Ellenberger; two children; one son, Mr. Frederick (Spike) Ellenberger, and a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Janice) Liscinsky, both of Punxsutawney; two grandchildren, Mrs. Gary (Tracy) Kerr of Punxsutawney, and Mr. Christopher (Casey) Liscinsky of Christiansburg, Virginia; ten stepchildren, Mrs. Chester (Barbara) Southerland of Canton, Ohio, John Shiock and wife Kae of Indiana, Andrea Anthony of Erie, Timothy Shiock and wife Maureen of Punxsutawney, and Mrs. Jonathan (Lisa) Sprague of Carlisle, James and wife Janet Brownfield of Greensburg, PA, Dorothy and husband Stan Henderson of Robinson, PA, Loretta Brownfield of Masontown, PA, Owen Brownfield Jr. and wife Amy, and Tammy Hardy of Altoona, PA; two sisters, Mrs. John (Norma) Moore of Punxsutawney, and Mrs. Joseph R. (Frances) Ralston of Millersport, Ohio; several step grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his two wives; Mary Catherine (Smith) Ellenberger, and M. Jean (Shiock) Ellenberger.

Friends will be received in the Deeley Funeral Home of Punxsutawney from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Sunday, August 2, 2015.

A funeral service will be held at at 11 a.m. on Monday August 3, at the funeral home with Chaplain Thomas Spiker of VNA officiating.
