Charles A. States Jr.

Charles A. States Jr., 86, DuBois, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born November 25, 1934, in Rossiter, PA, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Alma (Filler) States Sr.

On January 23, 1960, he married Judy (Nicholas) States at the Mt. Zion Church in DuBois. She survives.

Charles graduated from Punxsutawney High School. From 1956-1958, Charles served in the U.S. Army. Until his retirement, he was employed by Riverside Markets as a refrigeration technician for 30+ years. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men. Charles was an avid fisherman and hunter and an active member of Knepp’s Hunting Camp. He enjoyed watching an array of sporting events, including dirt track racing. Charles also enjoyed playing cards with his family.

In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his children, Kenneth Charles States, DuBois, Gregory Paul (Wendy Marie) States, DuBois, and Karin Ann (Kirk) Grotjohn, Cary, NC; three grandchildren, Jack, Kennedy, and Laine Grotjohn; two sisters, Martha (Tom) Farabaugh, Punxsutawney, and Karen (Chuck) Hugus, Melvern, OH, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents as well as his siblings, Mary Firment, Sally Krtanjek, Samuel States, and Joseph States.

A private viewing and service were held with military honors accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. A Service of Remembrance will be planned at a later date. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
