Charles Dewayne Greenawalt

charles gCharles Dewayne Greenawalt, 83, of New Bethlehem, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Clarview Nursing Center in Sligo.

He was born on July 10, 1932 in Lawsonham; the son of Joseph V. and Dorothy G. Bell Greenawalt.

Charlie was married on August 11, 1956 to Geraldine Best, who survives.

He retired from Owen’s Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion after 29 years.

Charlie is a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He attended the Carwick Wesleyan Church.

Charlie enjoyed wood working, fishing, hunting, and yard work.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Terry Greenawalt and his wife Mae of New Bethlehem and Robert Greenawalt and his companion Shelly Crawford of New Bethlehem, six grandchildren, Dean Greenawalt and his wife Rachel of Mayport, Tara Wands and her companion Ezra Kessling of Shamokin, Scarlett Greenawalt of New Bethlehem, Michael Greenawalt of New Bethlehem, Jonathan Greenawalt of Clarion, Larry Greenawalt and his wife Andrea of Clarion, and Bobbi Lynn Greenwalt of Virginia, thirteen great grandchildren, and three sisters, Marilyn Boyles of Ohio, Donna Jean Williams and her husband Ronald of Kingsville, and Nancy Bimber and her husband Dennis of Russell.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Myron, Kenny, Allen, and Arnold “Red” Greenawalt, and one sister, Elaine Stewart.

Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Burns Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc. in Rimersburg.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 in the funeral home with Rev. Gary Guntrum, pastor of the Carwick Wesleyan Church as presider.

Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.

Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 454 and V.F.W. Post 7132 of Rimersburg.
