Charles P. Slagle

Charles P. Slagle, 91, of Brookville, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville, Pa.

Born March 20, 1921, in Brookville, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles Slagle and Marie Shirey Slagle.

On June 6, 1951, he married Iva Belle Silvis in Brookville, who survives.

He worked as a baker and a cook for Hilton’s Diner and Truckstops of America, both in Brookville, Pa.

He was a veteran who served in the US Army during WWII, European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters. He received three Bronze Battle Stars and received the Purple Heart.

He was a member of the Port Barnett United Methodist Church in Brookville, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Iva Belle, one daughter, Patricia L. Barber (Vince) of Brookville, Pa.; three sons, Roger A. Slagle (Rhonda) of Taveras, FL; Larry D. Slagle (Rose) of Sigel, Pa.; and David L. Slagle (Verna) of Summerville, Pa.; one sister, May E. Slagle of Brookville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

He was preceded death by his parents, Charles Slagle and Marie Shirey Slagle; one brother, Richard Slagle, one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received at McKinney Funeral Home located at 345 Main Street in Brookville on Friday, March 22, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at McKinney Funeral Home with The Rev. Les Hutchins, Jr., officiating.

Interment will be at Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville, Pa.
