Cheryl Rae “Sherri” Harding

Cheryl Rae “Sherri” (Volchko) Harding passed away peacefully in her home on Oct. 13, 2015, after a brave battle with cancer.

Sherri was born on Sept. 16, 1954, in Waynesburg, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Sabo) Volchko, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by two brothers, Joseph (Diana) Volchko Jr. of Punxsutawney and Gerald (Judith) Volchko of Butler, Pa.; a sister, Victoria (Earl) Barker of Pittsburgh; and nine nieces and nephews.

Her beloved sister, Mary Kay Volchko, and nephew Barry Guyy also preceded her in death.

Sherri was dearly loved by her two daughters, Chasity L Sye (Caleb) and Devyn R. Harding, who were by her side throughout her battle.

She was adored by her grandchildren, Zachary Girasek (Shelby), Timothy R. Sye, Teamon Adams and Lilah Dumas.

Sherri spent her early life in Crucible, Pa., then relocated to Punxsutawney with her family. She retired from Acme Stamping and Wiring Co. in McKees Rocks, Pa., after 20 years of service.

She treasured spending time with her grandchildren, whom she described as her greatest joy in life.

Her hobbies included long walks, swimming and time on the beach with her toes in the sand.

In lieu of a funeral, Sherri selflessly chose to donate her remains to cancer research so others might find hope from her struggle.

The family will be celebrating her life at a memorial service and wake to be held in the spring of 2016.

The family welcomes all of Sherri’s friends and loved ones to join them in 2016 as they share warm memories of her optimism, her bravery and her life. – See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/punxsutawneyspirit/obituary.aspx?n=cheryl-rae-harding-volchko&pid=176517711#sthash.knXKnjoc.dpuf
