Chester J. Mohney

Chester MohneyChester J. Mohney, 75, of New Bethlehem, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo.

Born February 7, 1942 in Leatherwood, he was the son of the late Russell and Nellie (McMaster) Mohney. He was married on November 26, 1960 to Kathleen M. (Edwards) and she preceded him in death on November 14, 2007.

Chet worked at Crawford Furniture and was a heavy equipment operator for Harmon, C&K and Reddinger Coal Companies.

He was a member of the NBC Chorus Barber Shop Harmony Society for 52 years and he also was a member of the Loyal Order Moose Lodge in New Bethlehem.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates fan and had a great love for the game of golf.

He also loved attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by three children, Lisa Bowser and her husband Steve, Steven Mohney and his wife Ruth and Christina Mohney, all of New Bethlehem, five grandchildren, Bobby Chestnut and his friend Missy Kline, Ashley Wells and her husband Ted, Jessie Chestnut and her friend Heath Draa, Breanna Crissman and her husband Brady and Jacob Bowser and his wife Tiffany, and seven great-grandchildren, Karlee Wells, Kaylee Wells, Kloey Chestnut, Aleah Wolfgang, Brayden Wells, Taylynn Crissman and Hayleigh Crissman. Also surviving is a sister, Stella Hook, of Knox, and a brother, Jerry Mohney and his wife JoAnn of New Bethlehem, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Mohney of Richmond, Ohio.

In addition to both his parents and his wife Kathleen, he was preceded in death by, a brother, Glenn Mohney and a brother-in-law Elton “Stan” Hook.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, March 16, 2017 form 2 to 8 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.

Additional viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jimmy Swogger officiating.

Interment will be held in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.
