Clarion County Welcomes New Assistant District Attorney

IMG_2700 (1)Clarion, Pa. (EYT) Anna M. Welsh, Esq., has been added to the staff of the Clarion County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney.

Ms. Welsh earned her Juris Doctor from Dusquesne University School of Law on June, 2, 2013, and was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania on October, 28, 2013. Anna is originally from Jefferson County and is a graduate of Brookville Area High School. She graduated summa cum laude from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 2009, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

During her tenure at Clarion University, Anna completed an internship with the Clarion County District Attorney’s Office. While in law school, Anna interned with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General in the Insurance Fraud Section. She also clerked for several private attorneys, gaining experience in criminal defense, personal injury, and family law. Her duties will include all aspects of the criminal litigation process. Recently, she conducted – and won – her first jury trial before Clarion County President Judge James G. Arner.

Per District Attorney Mark Aaron, “We are very pleased to have Anna become part of the District Attorney’s office. As a Dusquene graduate, Anna is well prepared to assume her duties as an ADA. She has already begun to prove herself in the court system, and with experience, she will be a valuable addition to the DA’s office.”

The Clarion County Commissioners created the part-time Assistant District Attorney position as part of the 2014 budget. Ms. Welsh will serve with Drew Welsh, Esq., who serves as the full-time First Assistant District Attorney. (Note: Anna and Drew Welsh are of no relation.)
