Clarion U. Football Travels to Cal Saturday


CALIFORNIA, Pa. – A pair of 3-2 overall, 1-1 PSAC West teams will meet in California, Pa., when Clarion hits the road to take on the Cal Vulcans at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Mylique McGriff- McGriff rushed his way up the record books with 108 yards on 20 carries, pushing him past 2,000 career rushing yards and into eighth place on the all-time list.

With the strength of the special teams in the second half, Clarion bounced back from a pair of recent losses for a 42-16 win over Seton Hill. Clarion outscored Seton Hill 28-7 in the second half and finished with a total of 309
all-purpose yards. Two scores and a blocked kick from the Clarion special teams’ players proved to be the game changers, providing momentum the Golden Eagles would feed off of to seal the win over. The Griffins.

In a win over Seton Hill last week, the Golden Eagle pass rush hurried Seton Hill QB Ryan Bar-abe 13 times and sacking him twice.

For Cal, LB Julian Cox- He set a season-high with 12 tackles (seven solo) and also registered 1.5 TFL and one interception against IUP. He now leads the team with 36 stops and 8.5 TFL, plus is tied for the team lead with two interceptions, this season.

RB Nelson Brown- Brown finished with a game-high 114 rushing yards on 21 attempts against IUP. He ranks third in the league this season with 456 rushing yards and is the first player to rush for at least 100 yards against IUP this fall.

The Vulcans trailed by just four points late in the fourth quarter before suffering a 17-6 loss at IUP in the
11th-annual Coal Bowl in PSAC West play. The Vulcans held the Crimson Hawks to a season-low 85 rushing yards on 32
attempts and without a rushing touchdown for the first time this year.
