Clarion U. Women’s Hoops at Walsh Wednesday

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Fresh off an impressive 67-58 win at West Chester Sunday, the Clarion University women’s basketball team is back in the road at Walsh at noon Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles (2-3) split a pair of road games over the weekend losing at East Stroudsburg, 91-74, Saturday before knocking off a West Chester team that had beaten Gannon Saturday.

Clarion has been a strong 3-point shooting team in the early going ranking fourth in the PSAC in 3-point field goal percentage (35.9 percent) while leading the conference with 42 made threes.

Tyra Polite ranks fifth in the conference in made triples with 12 while shooting 31.6 percent (12 of 38) from 3-point land, the 10th-best mark in the PSAC.

Polite leads the Golden Eagles in scoring at 15.4 points per game, which is 10th in the PSAC, and is joined in double digits by Quorea Pearyer (13.0 ppg) and Amesha Harden-Pulliam (10.8 ppg), while Jordan Bekelja (8.4 ppg) also plays a key role.

Walsh enters the game at 2-2 and are coming off a 62-60 win over Malone.

Brooklyn Wooten, a 2015-16 second-team All-GLIAC chose and a preseason All-GLIAC South Division selection leads the Cavs averaging 23 points and seven rebounds per game.

Alex Hochstedler (15.3 ppg), Brittni Clopton (11.0 ppg) and Jalynn Graham (10.8 ppg) also reached double figures for Walsh, which is averaging 70.5 points per game.
