Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles (7-7, 4-2 EWL) finish .500 or better for the second straight season, the first time they have done so since 1994-95.

It was a tough road against the Wolverines, who entered the weekend as one of the best teams in the nation, but the Golden Eagles eked out a pair of wins in their final tune-up before the EWL Championships hosted by George Mason. Redshirt sophomore Greg Bulsak rang his win streak to nine straight wins a decision over Jackson Striggow, leading him 4-0 after two periods and trading points with him in the third en route to the decision.

The other winner on Sunday afternoon was freshman Seth Koleno, who improved to 14-11 overall on the season and evened his dual match record at 7-7. Wrestling in the penultimate match of the day, he defeated Jack Medley 11-9 to improve to 2-0 on the weekend.

The match against the Wolverines started at 149 pounds, and the Big Ten powerhouse won the first five bouts on the mat to take a 20-0 lead. Bulsak stemmed the tide with his decision at 197 pounds, but Michigan clinched the team victory with a win by fall at heavyweight.
