CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – The Clarion athletics department will host the 10th and final Fran Shope Golf Outing on Sunday, June 5 at Clarion Oaks Golf Course.

The event will be open to the public and registration will open at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start set for 9 a.m.

Proceeds for the tournament benefit the Take Flight Endowment for Women’s Athletics. The Endowment is used to fund scholarships for female student-athletes at Clarion.

According to Clarion associate athletic director Wendy Snodgrass, PHD, a new event will replace the golf outing next year to raise scholarships for female student-athletes.

“More information will be sent out once the new event is confirmed,” Snodgrass said.

The 2016 Fran Shope Outing, which is named for former Clarion associate athletic director Fran Shope, who passed away in 2007, will be a four-person scramble with men’s, women’s and mixed divisions. The cost is $75 per person or $300 per team entry and includes dinner following golf. Prizes will go to the winners in all three divisions.

Hole sponsorships are available at $100, while food and cart sponsorships are available at $500.

Checks should be made payable to the Clarion University Foundation.
