Clarion University Community Breakfast to Honor MLK Legacy of ‘Love and Courage’

dede-headshotCLARION, Pa. – Clarion University invites the community to its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. on January 16 at Eagle Commons on Clarion’s campus. This year’s theme is “Love and Courage.”

Dr. Brenda Dede (pictured above), associate vice president of academic affairs, will be guest speaker. She will look back at King’s legacy and apply it to how everyone can learn to get along by together pursuing common goals.

“We are one,” she said. “Sure, there are factors that divide us, but he said it was important that we all put those things aside and come together,” Dede said.

“This breakfast is important, first of all, because of the legacy Dr. King left and what he meant to the American people, in general, and the African American people, in particular,” Dede said. “Also, with the recent political and social climate in the United States, it’s important that we continue to expose his legacy and quest for all people to get along, particularly the American people.”

Tickets cost $7.00 and can be purchased at the door. RSVP to rsvp@clarion.edu.

Plenty of parking will be available in the lots near Eagle Commons.

The breakfast is sponsored by Clarion University, Clarion community organizations, charities, and churches.
