The Golden Eagles (7-19, 2-18 PSAC), who have lost 14 in a row, will close out their season on the road next week against Gannon and California (Pa.).

Clarion’s four seniors – Shelby Coughenour, Ashley DeLeonibus, Amesha Harden-Pullium and Marina Kelly – all took the floor at Tippin Gym for the final time in their careers. Harden-Pullium finished with eight points, two boards and two assists in 40 minutes of action while Kelly added seven points and four rebounds off the bench. Jordan Bekelja led all Clarion players with nine points on 4-of-10 shooting, while Yasmin Lewis added six points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

The Fighting Scots won the rebounding battle 60-40, effectively limiting the Golden Eagles’ opportunities for second-chance points. They limited Clarion to a 24.3 field goal percentage for the game, doing most of their damage in the first half.

After trailing 34-12 after two quarters of action, the Golden Eagles put up a good fight in the second half. Taylor Moltz briefly got the lead under 20 points with a three-pointer to start the half, and Bekelja kept it right at 20 with a layup to make it 37-17 with 8:07 to go in the third. Edinboro outscored Clarion just 45-33 in the second half, and the rebounds tightened significantly as the Fighting Scots had just a 26-22 margin in the last 20 minutes. Kelly hit a three-pointer with 4:16 remaining to cut it to 69-42, and Bekelja added a trey of her own as the clock wound down.

The game was the final home game in what is currently known as Tippin Gym. The facility is scheduled to undergo a complete makeover starting in March that will basically gut the building to its core.
