Class AAA Northwest Regional Wrestling Pairings Released

ALTOONA, Pa. (D9Sports) – The pairings for the Class AAA Northwest Regional Wrestling Tournament at Altoona Area High School this weekend have been released.

Clearfield leads the District 9 contingent with 11 qualifiers. St. Marys has eight while DuBois has four, Punxsutawney and Bradford each send two.

Beginning at 106 pounds, St. Marys’ Tyler Dilley has a bye, then takes on the winner of the match between Mifflin County’s Christian Fisher and General McLane’s Andrew Brest.

For Clearfield’s Matt Ryan, he opens with Cathedral Prep’s Brady Sittinger.

At 113 pounds, DuBois’ Dalton Woodrow opens with Titusville’s Chris Wig and Clearfield’s Jude Pallo begins with Bellefonte’s Shafiq Blake.

In the 120-pound weight class, DuBois’ Kolby Ho takes on Bald Eagle Area’s Clayton Giedrock.

At 126, Clearfield’s Hunter Blake faces Carrick’s Matt O’Connor and Bradford’s Tyler Thompson takes on Central Mountain’s Seth Andrus.

At 132 pounds, St. Marys’ Cameron Resch has a first-round bye before taking on the winner of the match between Central Mountain’s Logan Long and McDowell’s Carmen Ciotti. In the lower half of the bracket, Clearfield’s Josiah McClarren faces State College’s Zach Price.

At 138 pounds, St. Marys’ Garrett Cook will face Westinghouse’s Kiyamee Johnson. At the bottom half of the bracket, Brock Adams has a first-round bye, then will take on the winner of the match between Bradford’s Dillon Keane and General McLane’s Hunter Hendricks.

At 145, Clearfield’s Tallin Norris will face General McLane’s Briggs Twitchell with the winner battling Bellefonte’s Brock Port. Punxsutawney’s Eli Lambiotte gets State College’s Dalton Barger.

In the class at 152 pounds, Kyle Pecht of St. Marys opens with General McLane’s Owen Watkins. The winner will take on Mifflin County’s Hayden Hidlay,.

DuBois’ Carson Hanna will open with Central Mountain’s Tanner Weaver.

At 160 pounds, Punxsutawney’s Kaleb Young begins with Philipsburg-Osceola’s Nick Patrick. Clearfield’s Hunter Wright takes on Cathedral Prep’s Luigi Yates with the winner opposing Carrick’s Cory Dees. St. Marys’ Brandon Cherry starts with Westinghouse’s Tyree Carlins. The winner gets Mifflin County’s Trent Hidlay, who had a bye in the first round.

In the 170-pound bracket, at the top, Clearfield’s Luke McGonigal has a bye before facing the winner of the match between Altoona’s Parker McClellan and Cathedral Prep’s Kyle Carter.

At 182 pounds, St. Marys’ Christian Steffan, also at the top of the bracket, has a first-round bye. Steffan will take on the winner of the match between Central Mountain’s Greg Stahl and Cathedral Prep’s Mike Hughes.

A few spots lower on the bracket, Clearfield’s Levi Wisor takes on Mifflin County’s Brandon Wilson.

At 195 pounds, Clearfield’s Travis Ogden will start with McDowell’s Mike Kurelowech. In the bottom of the bracket, St. Marys’ Mitchell Cashmer faces Bellefonte’s Max Mondy with the winner battling Brashear’s Jesus Flores.

At 220 pounds, Clearfield’s Hunter Bumbarger will face Hollidaysburg’s Noah Worley. St. Marys’ DJ Salinas takes on Carrick’s Cary Knight.

In the 285-pound weight class, Clearfield’s Nate Lash will begin with Central Mountain’s Bryce Bitner. Punxsy’s Gage Arrington will oppose Hollidaysburg’s Hunter Gill. The winner will face Cathedral Prep’a Kawuan DeBoe, who has a bye. St. Marys’ Ray Kline will battle General McLane’s Jacob Lenhardt. The winner will face Bald Eagle Area’s Josh Fye.

Action begins at 5 p.m. Friday with the first round, then the quarterfinals will begin at 8:15 p.m.

Saturday, the first round consolations begin at 9:30 a.m. and the second round consolations are at 11 a.m. The semifinals and third round consolations are at 12:30 p.m.

The consolation semifinals begin at 2:30 p.m. The parade of champions will be at 6 p.m. with the finals and consolation finals at 6:15 p.m.

The top three wrestlers from each weight class advance to the PIAA Championships at Hershey’s Giant Center March 10-12.
