JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (EYT) – It was cold outside, and the Clarion University men’s basketball team never did heat up from the floor shooting just 34 percent from the floor in an 80-58 loss at Pitt-Johnstown in PSAC West action Friday.

The Golden Eagles (5-6 overall, 3-3 PSAC) shot 38.5 percent (10 of 26) in the first half while getting behind 46-29 at halftime and then managed to do worse in the second half hitting on 8 of 27 shots (29.6 percent) to finish the day 18 of 53 from the field.
Point guard Manny Powell had a day to forget going 1 of 14 from the floor, turning the ball over three times and fouling out.
While Clarion couldn’t hit the ocean from a boat, UPJ (8-4, 3-3) shot nearly 50 percent (32 of 66) including 18 of 35 in the first 20 minutes.
Josh Wise led the Mountain Cats scoring a game-high 19 points. A.J. Leahy added 16 tallies with Jake Laravie adding 13. Leahy completed a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Cameron Grumley paced Clarion with 13 points and six rebounds. BJ Andrews added 11 points with Akeem Williams adding eight points and nine rebounds.
