Colonel Edward “Ed” Boring Jr.

Colonel Edward “Ed” Boring Jr., 88, of DuBois, died Friday, November 17, 2023, at Christ the King Manor.

Born on July 29, 1935, in DuBois, he was the son of the late Colonel Edward and Orpha (Cathers) Boring Sr.

On May 19, 1957, in DuBois, he married Donna J. (Snyder) Boring. She preceded him in death on September 10, 2015.

He was a member of the Sandy High School Class of ’54.

Ed was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a Master Seargeant.

He retired in 1995 at a Vice President of the DuBois Deposit Bank after a 36-year career in banking.

He had been a member of the Garfield Lodge #559 Free & Accepted Masons and the Coudersport Consistory.

He had also been a past member of the American Red Cross Board of Directors, as well as the DuBois Chamber of Commerce and the Morningside Cemetery Board of Directors.

Ed also served as a Cubmaster.

He is survived by his son, (Scott E. Boring and his wife Leonie of Allentown). Two grandsons survive, Eric Edward Boring, Jr. and Michael Edwin Boring. A daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kurtz and two sisters also survive, Willa C. Divins and Karen A. Donahue, both of DuBois and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, (Colonel Edward “CE” Boring, III, and Eric E. Boring), two sisters, Phyllis Armagost and Joan Levinson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded from the funeral home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
