Column: Special Thanks to Regional Sports Communication Pros for Helping us at EYT Media

With this week being COSIDA Membership Recognition Week, I wanted to take a moment to thank a group of individuals who are instrumental in helping us at the EYT Media and D9Sports.com sites in bringing you up-to-the-minute coverage of area colleges and local athletes: the Sports Information/Athletics Communications staffs.

Without people like Kris Petersen, Jeff Nelson, Pat Donghia and others at Penn State; E.J. Borghetti, Casey Bonk, Kelly Dumrauf, and staff at Pitt; Sean Fagan and Anthony Williams at Clarion; Ryan Briggs at Grove City, Jon Holtz and Tyler McIntosh at Slippery Rock; Ryan Rebholz at IUP; Chris Parker at the PSAC office; and many, many others, it would be impossible for us to cover the regional colleges and local athletes.

Many of the Penn State, Pitt, and Clarion previews you see on the site, the videos that accompany the Pitt stories, and so much more are because of the fine folks like Petersen, Borghetti, and Fagan. The same goes for the college football recaps from those schools and Grove City.

Whenever we need anything from any of those colleges – in fact from any college across the country – a simple phone call or e-mail is usually all it takes to get that information. And, that is all because of the fine SIDs/Sports Communication folks at these universities.

At a small, growing company like ours, their help is invaluable. We wouldn’t be able to do top-notch coverage of those programs without their help.

And – they do it all without fanfare and by working long, tireless hours that includes pretty much not having weekends to themselves at any point during the school year.

So, I want to say thank you to all of them, to Kris, E.J. Sean, the Ryans, Jon, Chris, Tyler, Pat, Jeff, Kelly, etc. Without you, I/we would never be able to give the exposure to the teams and student-athletes our readers care about.

So, again, thank you!
