Two Men Facing Felony Charges for Storage Unit Break-Ins

WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Two men are facing felony charges for break-ins that occurred at storage units late last year in Jefferson County.

Court documents indicate the Dubois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 35-year-old Joshua David Cribbs, of Luthersburg, and 36-year-old Vincent Edgar Siverling, of Clearfield.

According to a criminal complaint, on December 22, 2017, police recovered several stolen items that were in the possession of Vincent Edgar Siverling and another known man. The recovered items were taken from multiple locations. Some of the items, along with firearms, had been stolen from a storage unit located at in Reynoldsville belonging to two known victims; however, the victims were unaware that a theft had occurred.

When notified, the victims indicated they had an SKS firearm in the storage building, along with other rifles.

It was determined that Joshua David Cribbs may be involved in the burglary of the storage unit when State Parole found an SKS belonging to the victims hidden under his bed. They conducted a search and found several other items that belonged to the victims.

On January 5, Cribbs was interviewed at PSP DuBois. He was read his Miranda Rights and agreed to speak without an attorney. He stated he did not know the owner of the storage unit he broke into on State Route 310. He said he only entered one unit at that location and that he was with Vince Siverling, who handed items out to him. He remembered taking out a lot of boxes and some rifles, according to the complaint.

The officer began reading him a list of the items confiscated from his residence and asked him if he remembered taking those items. He was also asked about the SKS rifle. He said he brought it back to where he was staying and kept it under his bed.

Cribbs stated that all of the items from the storage unit went back to Siverling’s residence first, then Siverling told Cribbs he could take what he wanted. He said Siverling made it sound like the items in the unit belonged to him and his ex-girlfriend. At first, Cribbs thought Siverling used a key, but then “he realized Siverling used bolt cutters and knew the items did not belong to him. He knew the items were stolen after he and Siverling broke into the storage sheds,” the complaint states.

Cribbs said he remembered taking the .22 caliber air revolver, shotgun shells, and a lot of 762 ammo for the SKS rifle from the storage unit. He also took a lot of police patches, foreign currency in an old check box, foreign coins, a metal tin containing miscellaneous collectibles, a Marlboro lighter, a Harley Davidson knife, several tokens, and a Homolite Textron chainsaw, the complaint indicates.

Around 1:15 p.m. on January 17, police interviewed Vincent Edgar Siverling at the Jefferson County Jail. Siverling was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak to police without an attorney.

Siverling at first denied breaking into the storage units along State Route 310. He said he didn’t know Cribbs was breaking into storage units.

Siverling eventually admitted he had lied at first and was with Cribbs, and they broke into the storage units. He stated that he took a 30-06 and a .22 rifle and Cribbs took the SKS and a shotgun. Siverling stated he remembered taking a leather chair and a meat grinder. Cribbs took a bunch of coins and foreign currency.

Siverling said they broke into the storage units sometime after the first week of hunting season. The storage units along State Route 255 in Sandy Township were done one night, and then a second night they did the ones along State Route 310. Their plan was to sell the items at an auction in Ohio, according to the complaint.

Police obtained a detailed list of the items stolen from the victims of one of the thefts. The total estimated value is $27,293.00.

Based on the investigation both men were arraigned at District Judge David B. Inzana’s office.

The following charges were filed against Siverling on Thursday, February 15:
