Connie Lynn Slay

Connie Lynn Slay, 82, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 22, 2018, as a patient of the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Connie was born on October 16, 1936, to the late Orville and Edith (Brownfield) Slay, in Brookville, PA. She graduated from the Brookville High School and went on to pursue her secondary education, earning her Master’s degree in Nursing. She retired as a Registered Nurse and throughout her career held positions with administrative duties, teaching duties and clinical duties, specializing in Cardiac Nursing.

For many years she attended the Brookville First Baptist Church where she would teach the ladies class and periodically, she would play duets with her sister Ruby on the organ, and she on the piano. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau, an international honor society for nursing, the Audubon Club, Brookville Senior Citizens, and she enjoyed volunteering her time at the local nursing homes, specifically at Brookside and the McKinley Health Center.

Connie enjoyed being outdoors doing many things including walking, cross-country skiing, bird watching, and gardening. She was talented with music, enjoying the opportunities she had to play the piano. She also enjoyed photography, being with friends, animals, especially cats and dogs, and studying her Bible.

Connie is survived by her dear sister, and close friend, Ruby Slay.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the Brookville First Baptist Church, 101 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and officiated by Reverend David Blair. Interment will take place at Butler Cemetery, Pine Creek Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Brookville First Baptist Church, or to Back to the Bible, P.O. Box 82808 Lincoln, NE 68501. Connie was also a supporter of the Humane Society.
