Cook Forest Park Rangers Seize Drugs from Two Men; Felony Charges Filed

crime-newsCOOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) –. Two men are facing felony drug charges after they were allegedly found to be in possession of drugs at Cook Forest State Park.

On September 1, Cook Forest State Park Ranger Bresnehan approached a group of young adults sitting by their vehicles near the Cook Forest State Park Office.

According to a Criminal Complaint filed at District Magistrate Timothy Schill’s Office, the driver of the vehicle was allegedly drinking an alcoholic beverage, which is illegal in a state park.

After walking around the vehicle, Park Ranger Bresnehan observed paraphernalia within plain view in the console of the vehicle.

According to the Criminal Complaint, Park Ranger Bresnehan received consent from the owner of the vehicle to conduct a search. During the search, Ranger Vescovi searched the vehicle and found a black bookbag containing 7 baggies of marijuana allegedly belonging to Samuel P. Gambill, Jr., 20, of Erie.

Ranger Vescovi attempted to detain Gambill, at which point he allegedly fled. Ranger Vescovi apprehended Gambill a short distance away and wrestled him to the ground. Ranger Bresnehan assisted Ranger Vescovi in handcuffing the defendant.

Later on, the rangers found another individually packaged baggie on Gambill’s person totally 8 baggies.

Gambill is facing eight felony counts of Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver and two misdemeanor counts of Resisting Arrest.

After Gambill was handcuffed and taken into custody, police gained consent to search a second vehicle belonging to an individual within the group.

According to the Criminal Complaint, Ranger Vescovi found paraphernalia, marijuana, sandwich bags, and a scale that belonged to James Jordan McQueeney, 25, of Erie.

Later, police found a bag allegedly belonging to McQueeny. The bag contained a pipe, grinder, and a small bag of what is believed to be cocaine.

McQueeney was subsequently taken into custody.

He faces one felony count of Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver.

Bail was set at $10,000.00 for both defendants.

Both Defendants face preliminary hearings on September 9.
