Cook Forest Sawmill Kicks Off 2015 Theater Season; Welcomes New Executive Director

379589_523568621036173_366146003_nCOOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) – The Verna Leith Theatre at the Cook Forest Sawmill Arts Center will open its 2015 theater season this Thursday evening as the Mahoning Valley Ballet presents “Summertime” directed by Joan Van Dyke.

Performances will be May 21, 22, and 23 at 8:00 p.m.

Tickets cost $15.00 and can be reserved by calling 814-927-5275.

In addition to offering an exciting theatre season, the Sawmill Center for the Arts will welcome a new addition to its staff. Brian Hand, a native of DuBois, has been hired to serve as Executive Director of the Sawmill Arts Center which includes the Verna Leith Theater and the Sawmill Craft Market.

Hand replaces Cindy Ban who retired at the end of last season.

“We are delighted to have Brian on board at the Sawmill,” said Joanne Vavrek, president of the Sawmill board. “His experience and dedication to our mission is exactly what we need at this time of transition.”

The 2015 Theater Season at the Sawmill will run through September 12, 2015.

June 18, 19, 20 – “The Musician of Bremen (A Not-So-Grimm Modern musical Fairy Tale)” presented by Reynoldsville Theatre Group (Musical)

June 25, 26, 27 and July 2, 3, 4 – “Fox on the Fairway” presented by Punxsutawney Theatre Arts Guild (Non-Musical)

July 9, 10, 11 and 15, 16, 17, 18 – “A Year with Frog and Toad” presented by Clarion University (Musical)

July 22, 23, 24, 25 – “Something’s Afoot” presented by Knox Community Theatre, Act I, Inc. (Musical)

July 30, 31, August 1, 5, 6, 7, 8 – “The Wedding Singer” presented by Clarion University (Musical)

August 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22 – “Meet Me in St. Louis” presented by Brookville Community Theater (Musical)

August 27, 28, 29 and September 3, 4, 5 – “Hide and Shriek” presented by Clarion Community Theater (Non-Musical)

September 10, 11, 12 – “Two by Two” presented by MODEL Theatre Troupe (Musical)

All performances begin at 8:00 p.m.

Season tickets are available for $154.00.

Office hours are between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

In addition to the theater, the Craft Market is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
