Cora A. Cardamone

Cora A. Cardamone, 93, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2015 in her home surrounded by her devoted family.

Cora was born June 7, 1921 in Crawfordtown. She was the daughter of Jessie (Cappella) and Anthony Ross. Preceding her in death were her brother Russell Ross, her sisters Frances Bofinger and Immaculate (Mackie) Ross, and she is survived by sisters Kae Renne, Lena Molinaro, and sister-in-law Audrey Ross, and brother-in-law Mario Cardamone and wife Dolores.

Cora was happily married for 56 years to Angelo (Bob) Cardamone who passed away on November 11, 2005.

Cora was the loving mother of five children: Sally Villella and husband Ken of Punxsutawney; Robert A. Cardamone of Punxsutawney; Dr. Ralph A. Cardamone and wife Yvonne of Clearfield; Jessie A. Anderson of Punxsutawney; and Mary Jude Troupe and husband Joe of Punxsutawney. All have been blessed by their mother’s life teachings and never-ending love.

Cora was a devoted grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Chad Villella; Toni Villella Niles and husband Jon; Angie Zawistowski and husband Billy; Nickie Cardamone; Thomas John Cardamone; Angel Cardamone; Dr. Billy Anderson; Corrie Anderson; Amy Anderson; Dr. Joey Troupe and Ashley Dominick; and Sara Troupe. She was also a loving great grandmother to Aubrey, Addison, and Lincoln Zawistowski, and a wonderful Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Cora dearly loved her best friend, Barb Dominick, and she touched the hearts of all of her neighbors, caregivers, and nurses.

Cora was a devout Catholic and a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church.

She was also a past member of the Rosary Altar Society and belonged to the Italian Sons and Daughters Lodge.

Cora will most be remembered as a loving mother whose kindness and sincere heart was always giving. She spent every day caring and praying for others. Her life’s motto was, “One Day at a Time!”

Friends will be received Wednesday, February 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Deeley Funeral Home, 33 Hillcrest Drive, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26th at Saints Cosmas and Damian Church. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery.
