Corsica Man To Be Sentenced Thursday in Animal Cruelty Case

starving-horseBROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A Jefferson County man accused of numerous counts of animal cruelty pleaded guilty to four appealed counts on Monday.

Lenny Hughes, 44, of Corsica, was found guilty in November 2016 of four summary counts of cruelty to animals.

Hughes appealed the rulings, but then pleaded guilty to the four appealed counts, according to Jefferson County Animal Control officer Debbie McAndrew.

Hughes will be sentenced at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 12 in front of President Judge John Foradora.

“Please come and show Judge Foradora that we believe an animal deserves justice also,” said McAndrew.”Certain people will have a chance to speak at the sentencing, we must be the voice for these sweet souls who lost the fight.”

Hughes originally faced 14 charges of cruelty to animals after 13 starving horses were seized from his property in September 2016.

Willow Run Sanctuary & Adoptions in Jefferson County is caring for the horses and has put together an online fundraiser that is raising money for their care.
