Police: Teen Lucky to Survive after Jumping in Redbank Creek During Flooding

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Brookville Borough Police say around 5:51 p.m. on June 27, an incident of disorderly conduct occurred on Pickering Street Bridge, in Brookville, Jefferson County.

According to police, it is alleged that during a time of high waters and flooding in the Brookville and Jefferson County areas, 18-year-old Brandon P. Hetrick, of Corsica, jumped off the Pickering Street Bridge and into the high, fast flowing, murky waters of Redbank Creek. He then swam and was pushed by the current to the area of Plyler’s Beverage where he was able to get back out of the water.

Police say following the completion of the investigation, a non traffic citation was issued to Hetrick charging him with disorderly conduct.

“He was very lucky that he survived this act,” said Sgt. Bickle.
